Dynamos 2 - Unity 3

Dynamos 2 – Unity 3

A beautiful sunny day greeted the start of a new season for Dynamos. This will be a tough season with lots of changes – Bigger pitch, Off sides, a new division (1st) and longer games.
So as they took the field there was some apprehension mixed with excitement at the challenge ahead.
Unity, proving why they are a top side, started very quickly and had Dynamos pinned into their own half for most of the first 15 minutes. The Dynamos defence worked extremely hard to restrict the goal bound attempts. Jordan was forced into two early saves, the second an excellent parry over the crossbar. Commanding the goal area, it was just the start of a man of the match performance by the Dynamos number 1.

The Dynamos midfield were drawn into defence to help out as Unity pressed hard for the opener, however on only their second break forward Dynamos showed ruthless attacking power by scoring on a quick counter attack, finished supremely by Jay. Against the run of play 1 – 0 to Dynamos!

The pattern of the game quickly returned with Unity pressing forward relentlessly. After one near miss Unity finally got their first goal, Dynamos defence finally broken. Dynamos 1 – Unity 1

The final 10 minutes of the first half followed a similar pattern, Unity pressing forward and Dynamos defence countering them. Travis, Hayden and Thomas worked extremely hard to stop the flow, and Felix put in some exceptional effort and tackles to assist.

The half time whistle was welcomed by Dynamos who knew they were in a very tough game, they could be very happy to have restricted Unity to the one goal.

HALF TIME – Dynamos 1 – Unity 1

The second half began as the first with Unity having the most possession however Dynamos were by now getting used to pushing up the defence to catch them offside. A couple of fine saves by Jordan kept the Unity score to one.

There was a welcome back to Dynamos for Harry, a previous goal scoring hero. His influence started the best period of the game for Dynamos about 10 minutes into the second half, a succession of attacks saw Charlie and Harry come close to scoring before a great passing move saw harry power e ball into the net..but it was adjudged to be offside to he obvious disappointment to the Dynamos players and fans.

A quick attack from Unity was broken down and a superb counter attack saw Harry get the ball in the net with a clinical finish. No offside this time and Dynamos in the lead for the first time. – Dynamos 2 – Unity1.

Dynamos seemed to freeze after the restart and no one picked up the Unity player who was allowed to run through the midfield and defence and the ball ending up in the net to the bewilderment of the Dynamos players. – Dynamos 2 – Unity 2.

In the last 15 minutes a second Dynamos substitution saw Anaisa making her debut. Anaisa is a very talented player who (unfortunately for Dynamos) has to split her time playing for Reading and Dynamos. Her influence just in front of the Dynamos defence helped to even up possession and create some rare Dynamo attacks which saw Felix and Harry come close to scoring.

With all the Dynamos players playing their part the last five minutes were very tense and as it looked like it was to end a draw with virtually the last attack of the game Unity grabbed the winner. Unfortunate but on balance probably a fair result. – Dynamos 2 – Unity 3.

Dynamos can take a lot of positives out of this performance and look forward to an exciting and fulfilling season.
