Dynamos v Woodley (game 2)

Dynamos 3 – Woodley 2

Before this week’s report a quick mention to last week’s friendly game, there was no report but as a summary Dynamos had a comfortable 5 – 1 win. The man of the match was Ru with a fantastic hat trick.

The last competitive game of the season saw Dynamos still holding on to top spot with rivals Whiteknights breathing down their necks. The belief was, before the game, that Dynamos had to win by a few goals to make the goal difference enough to win the league, more on that later!

Dynamos started quickly with wave after wave of attack, an incredible amount of shots rained on the Woodley goal with Ru, Charlie, Felix, Jay and Thomas all coming close. The Woodley goalkeeper was performing heroics keeping them out.

Dynamos defence of Travis, Hayden and Thomas dealt with the few breaks that Woodley made in the first few minutes, their one shot comfortably saved by Jordan. The siege on the Woodley goal continued and it was with great relief that Ru slotted in for the first goal following a great Dynamos attacking move. – Dynamos 1 – Woodley 0.

The relentless Dynamos pressure continued, with several near misses by Felix and Jay followed by a truly fantastic solo run and finish by Felix to put Dynamos two nil up just before half time. It needed something special to beat the keeper and that was it! – Dynamos 2 – Woodley 0.

Charlie had a shot go close before the referee brought the first half to an end with Dynamos well on top but unable to make their domination show on the score line.

The second half started as the first with waves of Dynamos attacks but if anything the Woodley keeper got even better keeping the Dynamos at bay with some amazing saves. During this period Harrison, Jay and Felix all had several efforts on goal.

The confidence seemed to grow from their keeper to the rest of the Woodley team and for the first time they put a couple of attacks together and stretched the Dynamos defence, their second attack of the half saw them pull one back. – Dynamos 2 – Woodley 1.

Dynamos went straight back on the attack with efforts by Felix, Jay and Travis but the Woodley keeper held firm. Then on a quick break the panic set into the Dynamos defence and after some pinball shots around the goal the ball somehow escaped Jordan’s hands and agonisingly crossed over the line. Incredibly the game was level. – Dynamos 2 – Woodley 2.

With only a couple of minutes left Dynamos looked shell shocked for a while, Woodley broke through but a great save by Jordan kept them out.

In the last minute Dynamos tried to push for the winner they deserved, with Woodley camped in their own box it looked like it wasn’t going to happen. Then a corner was forced by Dynamos pressure. The ball was whipped across and with a rocket of a header by Ru, Dynamos regained their lead! Joyous celebrations followed the goal on the pitch and touchline! – Dynamos 3 – Woodley 2.

The referee only just about time to restart before the final whistle went on a truly hard fought victory for Dynamos. Final score – Dynamos 3 – Woodley 2.

Attention then went to the Whiteknights game and some bad news came across that they had won 5 – 2 and it was thought that after all the seasons effort if Whiteknights were to win their next game that would be that and Dynamos would have to settle for runners up. However during the effort medal presentation it became clear that the rules were for teams on equal points the games between those two teams counted rather than overall goal difference, so the two games between Dynamos and whiteknights saw Dynamos come out on top and win the league!

So a massive well done and well played to all 9 players in the Dynamos team who all put in a fantastic effort and showed some great skills and teamwork throughout a season that ended with ...

DYNAMOS THE CHAMPIONS!!!! :-)

Dynamos V Caversham (game2)

Dynamos 3 – Caversham 0

After a long Christmas break and having lost their unbeaten run Dynamos wanted to get back to winning ways and push on for the title.

Dynamos started in fine style, passing and moving when in possession and pressing and winning the ball back when they weren’t. Everyone in the Dynamos team seemed confident in what they were doing and the organisation was superb.

Early attacks by Dynamos saw Felix coming close before Charlie hitting a cracker from outside the box which hid the underside of the crossbar and went in, then bounced out, one nil surely? No the ref didn’t think so to the amazement of the Dynamos players and those watching on the touchline. Where is goal line technology when you need it!

Dynamos didn’t let the decision get to them though and went on the attack again, a great through ball found Jay in just the right position to slot in for the first goal – Dynamos 1 – Caversham 0.

Caversham came back with a rare attack and Jordan made a good save. Thomas and Travis were working their socks off in defence to keep caversham out while at the other end Felix, Harrison and Ru all had chances narrowly missing to add to the score.

Just before half time, on a rare break, Caversham tested Jordan with a shot but he was equal to it. Dynamos broke straight from this and Jay went very close with another great build up from Dynamos.

The half time whistle went with Dynamos playing great football and well on top but just not able to add another goal.
The second half started again with Dynamos pushing forward, Ru just missing with a good effort.

Caversham then had their best spell with a couple of attacks and shots on goal but again superb defending by Thomas and Travis kept them at bay.

With Dynamos pressing forward a series of chances fell to Charlie coming really close before yet again one looked like it had gone in, unfortunately the ref didn’t see it that way and Charlie didn’t get the goal he richly deserved.

However tensions eased as Dynamos grabbed their second goal midway through the second half, great build up play followed by a great finish by Jay, again in the right place at the right time, made it Jays second and Dynamos second – Dynamos 2 – Caversham 0.

Dynamos kept pressing forward and pressing when they lost the ball to get it back, this was probably their best performance of the season and to make it even sweeter news was filtering through that their rivals for the title, whiteknights, were losing.

Ru came close to making it three before caversham had their last two chances of the game which were confidently dealt with by Jordan.

Into the last few minutes Dynamos took complete control with wave after wave of attack, Ru had two good chances before that man again, Jay added a third and his well deserved hatrick and man of the match.- Dynamos 3 – Caversham 0.

In the last minute Jay and Travis came close to adding a fourth before the final whistle went on a fantastic team performance from Dynamos, final score – Dynamos 3 – Caversham 0.

After the game it was confirmed that whiteknights did lose so the title is up for grabs for their final game next week, come on Dynamos!!

Dynamos V Whiteknights (game 2)

Dynamos 0 – Whiteknights 1

The top of the table clash was every bit as close and tense as anticipated. There were also some contentious refereeing decisions in this hard fought match between two teams determined to win.

Dynamos started well having the most possession and had several efforts by Ru and Charlie that could have opened the scoring, the Whiteknights keeper just keeping them out.

The final part of the first half was a very cagey affair with both teams unable to get shots on goal. Dynamos defence was very solid with Travis, Hayden and Thomas thwarting Whiteknights attack.

A throw in direct to the Dynamos keeper was adjudged to be a foul and Jordan made a good save from the freekick. Following another throw in, a debatable hand ball was given and whitenights gave Jordan no chance with the spot lick – Dynamos 0 – whiteknights 1.

Shortly after the half time whistle went and Dynamos felt hard done by the penalty decision and there attacking play not getting the goal it deserved.

In the second half Dynamos continued to edge it in possession and chances created. Charlie and Travis coming close before a couple of chances for whiteknights were narrowly missed.

Dynamos continued to press for the equalizer but it was one of those days where the ball just wouldn’t go in the net. Ru and Jay went close before Travis just missed on another forward run capping of his first half defensive display with a surging midfield role to claim the man of the match.

The whistle went and Dynamos lost their first league game of the season which handed the advantage of the title to whiteknights. Dynamos can be proud of the way they kept Whiteknights at bay and made most of the chances in a very tight game. Well played Dynamos!
